ABOUT HACKNEY FILM FESTIVAL
The Hackney Film Festival is a not-for-profit organisation and
a collective of local filmmakers and artists. Our aim is to
create a rich film culture within the London borough of
Hackney, by providing a platform for local filmmakers and
audio-visual artists to have their work showcased to the
community and a wider London audience.
Hackney Film Festival strives to achieve a new kind of film
festival; a festival that does not over popularise itself with the
glitz and glamour of awards ceremonies and VIP parties, but
instead simply celebrates the high concentration of
filmmaking talent from the borough. The festival aims to
showcase the very best filmmaking that Hackney has to offer
and is open to professional and amateur filmmakers alike.
For decades, artists from around the world have been drawn
to Hackney and have settled here to establish what we see
here today; a vibrant and ever growing culturally diverse area,
which in turn is a great source for creative inspiration. Hackney
Film Festival strives to celebrate this creativity.
